Organist - Geoffrey Woollatt

Geoffrey started his musical life at Southwell Minster as a Chorister in 1998. During his time there he went on tour to Italy, Sweden and Paris, sung for BBC’s Songs of Praise, and Radio 3’s Choral Evensong. He was first taught the Organ by the Cathedral’s very own Philip Rushforth. He finished his time there as Head Chorister.
When his voice broke in 2003 he left Southwell to join Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. Here he continued his organ studies with Christopher Stokes, Daniel Moult and Andrew Dean. Whilst at Chet’s he was able to accompany some of the school choirs, including Chetham’s Chamber Choir and in 2007 started his own choir, Chetham’s Chorale, who were given the privilege to sing at three Choral Evensongs in Manchester Cathedral, as well as other events in the school calendar. In January 2007, Geoffrey was appointed as Junior Organ Scholar at Manchester Cathedral, a post which he held for eighteen months.
In September 2008, Geoffrey joined Chester Cathedral as Organ Scholar, where he regularly plays for services, and the Thursday Organ Recitals. In September 2009, he will start at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow to further his Organ studies.
